Meet the Teacher

Don't forget tomorrow night is Meet the Teacher night. Please plan to attend to learn about the first grade curriculum, routines and procedures.  The meeting will start at 6:00 PM.  I look forward to seeing you!

Partner Work

Happy Tuesday!
Our Social Studies unit this week is about how we get along in school.  Today we did a partner activity called "Two on a Task"  The kids each had a partner.  They were given one piece of paper and one crayon.  They each had to  have a hand on the crayon and without talking they had two minutes to draw a picture.  They found it was a little difficult to draw without talking to their partner.  Check us out hard at work!

A Great Week!

It has been a great week!  I am so impressed by how quickly we are learning rules, routines, and procedures. We started the clip chart yesterday.  Three kids clipped off the chart yesterday and today we had seven!!!  Wow!  They are so excited to get a "bling" for their clip and choose a reward ticket.

This week we have been talking about how to be a good friend and our expectations for our "school family."

A Few Reminders:
*Be sure to check/clean out the green GO folder each night.
*Meet the Teacher Night is next Wednesday, August 20th from 6:00-7:00 PM

Check out some of our pictures from today!  Our cowboy/cowgirl pictures will be part of our "WANTED" bulletin board.

Have a wonderful weekend!  Get ready for a full week next week.

First Day of School

We had a great first day of school!  It was great to see so many happy faces walk through the door.  Our day was busy learning many new things.  I think maybe our "Jitter Glitter" helped to ease some first day fears.  Today we read the book, First Day Jitters and talked about how we all felt coming to school today.
We were so busy learning rules and procedures.  We needed a little break.  We do many brain breaks throughout our day to either get kids moving or calm kids down. They love it!  Check out some of our first day pictures.  You will see a few of the kids actively involved with the brain break video.  Thanks for sharing your kids with me this year!
